I’m not impressed with AT&T’s new ad

Wednesday, November 18th, 2009

Picture 8So, AT&T failed at its attempt to sue the pants off Verizon for those “There’s a Map for That” ads. This doesn’t mean they’re throwing in the towel. In fact they’re tossing in Luke Wilson in an ad called “Side-by-side” (embedded below.)

The ad features Luke in the middle of an abandoned warehouse (surely empty because AT&T’s sales are so incredible.) He’s got a bunch of magnetic Xs, which he will use to illustrate which company is the best in each contest. Of course, AT&T picked the contests and ignored any that might reflect badly on them.…

Verizon just has the better ad. It’s witty and simple, where this one is forced. I don’t even know why they hired Luke Wilson. And of course the jab at the end just seems like bad sportsmanship. Boo, AT&T. Boooooo.

Verizon and AT&T are getting catty, meow!

Tuesday, November 17th, 2009

If you haven’t seen the commercials, Verizon has launched a “There’s a Map for that” TV ad campaign, which mocks the coverage of AT&T’s 3G network. It’s a clever play on AT&T’s iPhone ads that solves your mediocre problems with iPhone apps and the tagline “There’s an app for that.” Well, AT&T then created a lawsuit against Verizon, claiming that Verizon is being dishonest. Today, Verizon is fighting back by saying that all they hear from AT&T is waahhh wahhh wahhh wahhhhh!

Geez, guys, it’s so awkward when people fight. In real life, I just try to diffuse situation with self-deprecating humor. Like, hey, look at me and my own problems, eh, eh? Well, uhhh, look, guys, let’s not fight! I mean, if someone has shitty 3G coverage it’s me!

Look at my map:

AT&T, please run ads that say, “Not as good as Verizon, but at least we’re better than Mike Tobias.” Please, please, please just stop fighting. I really want to invite you both to my party, and I don’t want no drama at my party. I’m serving a plate of cheeses. So, Verizon, AT&T, let’s just get to the makeup sex already.
