Happy Thanksgiving
Well, I’m taking a break from my 4th meal today of turkey and stuffing to wish you a great Thanksgiving. We’re thankful that this site hasn’t crashed and ruined all of our lives…yet. We’ve got some great links to Thanksgiving themed humor, as well as our own posts. Check them out when your family gets too much handle!

Sweepstakes! wooohoooooooo
So get ready for a chance to win some prizes tomorrow and Sunday!
All you have to do is 1) be a fan of Gutenberg Lampoon on the days of the sweepstakes and 2) post on our wall the features you’d like to see on our website! Then check your fbook inbox Sunday at 5 PM PDT to see if you’ve won! Sweepstakes winners will also be announced on our Facebook page, Twitter profile, and via Newsletter.
Here’s what we’re giving out:
Four (4) gift certificates to Threadless.com, each valued at $25 USD.
One (1) 8 GB Apple iPod Nano MP3 player, in the winner’s choice of color (excluding any Apple Store exclusive colors or special editions of the 8 GB Apple iPod Nano.) Valued at $149.99 USD.
If you win, there is no cash prize. I know we could all use $150, but you cannot take cash or payment as your prize.
Eligibility:
- No purchase is necessary;
- Must be a fan of Gutenberg Lampoon on Facebook from Nov. 14 until Nov. 15 4:00 PM PDT. All suggestions must be written on our wall during this sweepstakes period.
- Must be 18 years old before the start of the sweepstakes period, a US citizen and resident, and not an employee or immediate family member of Gutenberg Lampoon.
- Again, there is no purchase necessary. When you click the ‘become a fan’ button, write a suggestion or feedback for our site (examples below), you’ll be entered into the sweepstakes.
- 1 entry per Facebook user/fan. You can write as many suggestions as you want, but you’ll only be entered once.
- The odds of winning a gift certificate are 4 in 300. The odds of winning the MP3 player are 1 in 300. If more members join our fan page, the odds will increase. The most fans we estimate are 500.
- Winners will be selected by random drawing.
- Sponsored by Michael Tobias, 1200 Land Rush Dr., Arlington, TX, 76012
Gutenberg Lampoon is not required to use any user submitted suggestions. The user grants Gutenberg Lampoon full use of any ideas on this fan page, whether the user is a winner or not. This is not a contest; winners are not selected by the merit of their idea, but rather random selection.
examples of feedback
- ‘Site looks awesome I love (fill in the blank)’
- ‘Kinda feels like it’s missing (fill in the blank)’
- ‘It’d be really cool if you guys had (fill in the blank)’
If someone bullies you into giving up your prize
- Notify the nearest adult
- Lift weights for 16 weeks
- Find Mr. meanie (or Ms. Meanie, to be politically correct), and take back your prize
- If you get your ass kicked again, I’m sorry. Life’s unfair and you don’t have an iPod.

Retweet our jokes despite the ridiculously long name
In a Twitterverse, where we can only tweet 140 characters, a 15-character name like goooooootenberg can impede users’ ability to retweet our jokes. And since we’re not changing our name anytime soon, this post will help you share us.
Nobody factored in Twitter when we created our name Gutenberg Lampoon. So we quickly discovered that we’d be screwed by Twitter’s 15-character limit for user names. That’s why we created goooooootenberg, a name that would fit the 15-character limit but again screw us with something called a retweet.
For you Twitter users that may find our tweets humorous, we’ve severely limited your ability to share them with your followers.
Bit.ly, the URL shortener, is the best solution. When you see a tweet you like, right-click the date, and select Copy Link Location to grab the URL. When you visit Bit.ly you can just paste it and shorten it. Now you can slap this shortened URL in a tweet about us.
In the meanwhile, we’ll try to keep our tweets down to less than 120 characters for easier sharing, and of course keep them hilarious.
Follow us on Twitter for jokes, links, and news about Gutenberg Lampoon.

Comedy Blog Network
This post comes from Michael Tobias, the guy who manipulated his friends into starting a Comedy Blog Network and writing for it without pay. He continues to manipulate his friends into bad decisions, and will try to manipulate you into loving Gutenberg Lampoon.
The full version of Gutenberg Lampoon (with bells and whistles of social networking tools) is still in the lab, but this November we’re unleashing our comedy blog network. These blogs will cover a number of topics from Socialism to cute girls. Oh, well, when we describe it that way, our site sounds like a Russian beauty pageant. Hey, if that’s your thing, join us November for some comedy a la Goooooootenberg.
In the meanwhile, we’re tweeting our most ridiculous thoughts on our Twitter. Follow us and RT, and we’ll return the favor.
To stay connected with Gutenberg Lampoon, subscribe to this blog or join our mailing list. | Contact Michael.
